World Energy Consumption

The world is facing twin energy-related threats: that of not having
adequate and secure supplies of energy at affordable prices and that of
environmental harm caused by consuming too much of it.

Today I just want to share useful links, that will help you to get overview of a problems as it is seen by world leading institutions nowadays:

• World Energy Outlook – “the world’s most authoritative source of global energy trends”.
  Their reports provide energy projections and in-depth analysis. Current report (2008) are to be purchased. Older ones are free to download.
• International Energy Agency – “IEA conducts a broad programme of energy research, data compilation, publications and public dissemination of the latest energy policy analysis and recommendations on good practices”.
  It is worth to look at Key World Energy Statistics report.
• REN21 – “a global policy network that provides a forum for international leadership on renewable energy”.
  Their Renewables 2007 Global Status Report and Renewable Energy Potentials Report provide very insightful information and projections about renewable energies.
• World Nuclear Association – “the global private-sector organization that seeks to promote the peaceful worldwide use of nuclear power as a sustainable energy resource for the coming centuries”.
  The information papers on Nuclear Power Facts highlight the increasing importance of nuclear power in meeting world’s energy needs.
• Global Wind Energy Council – “provides a credible and representative forum for the entire wind energy sector at the international level”.
  Global Wind Energy Outlook 2008 Report communicates the idea that wind power is going to play a significant role in our energy future.
• BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2008 combines a lot of eye-opening numbers and graphs.
• Energy Facts from Solar Energy International lists a cold hard information worth to be familiar with.
